From outside the EU: an au pair visa – we help you with it

Our fee promise

Au pairs pay nothing upfront. A placement fee of max. €150 is only due after you have signed an au pair contract with a host family. We never ask for deposits.

Our German courses are a separate offer – you can apply as an au pair whether or not you take a course.

Who can become an au pair in Germany?+

Usually you should be 18 to 26 years old, have basic German skills (A1), be unmarried and have no children of your own. Experience with children is a big plus. Applicants from outside the EU need an au pair visa.

How much does GermanPathways charge au pairs?+

There are no upfront fees. You only pay a placement fee of max. €150 – the legal maximum in Germany – after you have signed an au pair contract with a host family.

How long does an au pair stay last?+

Usually between 6 and 12 months.
